Tuesday, 29 May

Murchison Museum was typical of most small town Museums.  A  fair bit of information on the big earthquake that struck the region many years ago. The secondhand shop/junk/antique was a hoarders paradise. Anything remotely good had a very good price tag attached.

We headed to Westport, making a few stops along the way to look at the view.  It was really cold in places so we didn’t hang around too long. By the time we got to Westport, the sun was shining and it was lunchtime. The town has changed little since we were there last time so we headed off again aiming for Hanmer.

Lots of frost on the ground, mid afternoon through the Lewis Pass. There was a wee sprinkle of snow on the tops of the range. It’s a lovely drive. We did a lot of driving today. Hanmer seems like a nice place so we might spend some time here tomorrow before deciding where we go next.
